The Apple App Store: Whats The Point?
After the success of its iTunes Mobile app store, Apple last week launched its web app store. It works in very much the same way to mobile app store, offering a range of handy mini programs that replace websites. Predictably the most popular app upon the launch of the store was Twitter. This is a nifty little desktop app that removes the need to visit Twitter.com, instead users can simply open the app and do all their tweeting from the interface.
So what is the point of Apple’s app store? Does an application really represent an easier way to access a service? Is it better than actually visiting a site?? Marginally perhaps, but this hardly comes into it. Some of the apps do require payment of prestamos inmediatos as the Spanish say, so this could really just be a money spinner for Apple.
Oddly, Apple seems to be deviating from Google’s vision. While the Google store houses apps that are essentailly browser plugins, Apple’s apps take up memory like a normal program. So while Google look to move towards cloud computing, storing everything up there in the ether, Apple look to be consolidating their market share by stamping their authority in the software market.
Applications, or programs as they were known seem to be moving away from the highly priced models of old and moving towards cheaper pieces of tech which can only be purchased online. A neat, visually arresting store with all these applications laid out before the user at low price points, or as the Spanish would say, dinero facil.
The mobile app stores seems to have introduced a whole new way of buying software, and one that Apple believe they can transfer to desktop apps. Only time will tell if the web app store is as successful. prestamos personales en efectivo
